How long have you been a farmer, and since when in organic?
I am the third generation, with my brother we took over the farm from our parents, and we have been certified organic since 2006. We work in the greenhouse, more commonly known as a greenhouse.
What do you like in your job?
The diversity of cultures, the exchange with other producers, the questioning, the seasonality, we learn something all the time
Why did you choose organic farming?
For the quality of the products, vegetables produced without pesticides and without phytosanitary risk for employees and consumers, for the protection of the environment and in fact the preservation of sustainable resources but also for the remuneration, we do not hide it.
Why did you trust the COOP?
My grandfather was one of the first members of Colefruigil (the ancestor of COVIAL) in Saint-Gilles, and for us joining came naturally.
What are the strengths of the COOP?
A real dynamism that we find as well, in the diversity of the soils, as in the productions, the member producers, but also all the employees of the COOP, we are all motivated to go in the same direction. We benefit from a planned production schedule, and are of course a 100% fair trade organic cooperative.
How do you manage to have “beautiful” fruits and vegetables?
We try to improve each year, supported by technicians. don’t hesitate to ask the opinion of other producers. And above all by devoting the necessary time to it, whether for cultivating, monitoring (watering, pests, diseases) and for harvesting, a lot of monitoring but also anticipation.
