How long have you been a farmer?
Ten years for me, Andy, and twenty-three years for Claude, my father.
How long has it been organic, and why?
Since 1998, with 10 hectares of open field and 47,000 2 of greenhouse. It’s a choice made by my father more than twenty years ago, I can’t see myself doing otherwise. Only organic farming can leave the production plots to our future generations better than when we had them.
Why did you choose this type of culture?
We alternate more technical cultivation and easier cultivation. We also choose according to our terroir. I like market gardening for its great diversity of production. It allows to make 3 crops in the year. And we love the diversity of production, the contact with the land and nature.
How do you manage to have beautiful vegetables?
I sing them Johnny Hallyday in an apron on full moon nights. And the experience in the first place. Past mistakes lead to progress. A lot of work and attention and the creation of an ecosystem that manages itself between bio aggressor and auxiliary. In short, work, regular visits to the crops to assess the threats. Also a careful selection of varieties. Human resources are also important.
Why did you trust the Coop?
For mutual aid, the pooling of resources, for its dynamism, its values.
What are the strengths of the Coop?
The planning of the schedules, the exchanges between producers. The pooling of tools… The total contribution, which allows you to devote yourself totally to production.
When you are not working what do you like to do?
Motorcycle rides.
